Description:
Triangular pennant, made for the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Printed in golden yellow on a ground of Navy blue, the graphics consist of a charging "Bill the Goat" mascot, wearing a saddle blanket, beneath an arched slogan of "Get “Em Goat." The word "Navy" is emblazoned on the blanket, then repeated in the remainder of the field in a variant of Old English lettering. Made sometime between 1930 and the 1950's, there is a binding of matching golden yellow along the hoist.

Mounting: The banner was mounted and framed within our own conservation department, which is led by expert staff. We take great care in the mounting and preservation of flags and have framed thousands of examples.

The background is 100% natural hemp fabric, or a hemp and cotton blend, ivory in color. The two-part frame consists of a step-down profile molding, nearly black with red undertones and highlights, to which a gilded, Italian molding, with a concave profile, was added as a liner. The glazing is U.V. protective acrylic (Plexiglas).

Condition: There is a tiny nick along the top edge, toward the fly end, but the overall condition is otherwise excellent.
