SOUTHERN DOUGH TABLE ON TURNED FEET IN SALMON RED PAINT, 1840-60:
Dough table in an orange/salmon-red painted surface. Made of yellow pine, it's origin is probably Southern. The form is Pennsylvania in style, but the most likely states are Virginia or Tennessee. The scale is smallish, so that it can be used in a lot of situations as an end table, small table for under a window, behind a love seat, in an entryway or hall; just about anywhere really. The case is dovetailed. The legs are finely turned and Sheraton style. Made sometime during the mid-19th century, ca 1840-60. |
