SAWBUCK BENCH IN RED OVER GREEN PAINT WITH TREMENDOUS EARLY SURFACE, CIRCA 1880, NEW BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS:
This is the only 19th century American bench that I have ever encountered with a sawbuck form. The painted surface is red over forest green, dry and with great craquelure and patination. Made of pine, circa 1880. Found in the whaling port city of New Bedford, Massachusetts and presumably made in the general vicinity.
Condition: There are no significant condition issues. |
