Description: |

Unusual fan quilt with piecework that resembles ties or sun rays. Made from ribbon silks and velvet's, ca 1870-1890. Lancaster County, Pennsylvania origin. Probably Mennonite. A masterpiece of Pennsylvania German folk art.
Condition: There are two tiny stitch-repairs in the very center, but it is otherwise immaculate. There is a small crack in the plexibox frame in one corner. This has been there for at least 15 years and isn't really visible due to its location.
Mounting: Professionally mounted on a stretcher frame, on black fabric, in a plexiglas, museum box frame. Can be hung square or on the diagonal for greater effect. |
