RARE EAGLE WINDMILL WEIGHT, 1ST QUARTER 20TH CENTURY:
This wonderful casting, with details front and back, is documented in "Windmill Weights" by Simpson (1985, Johnson & Simpson in conjunction with the Museum of American Folk Art, p. 73). Simpson states that this is the only known form of windmill weight with a distinct front and back. He also states that it may have been made by the J. I. Case Threshing Co. in Racine, WI, who used the same form, purchased on a globe, as the company logo.
Mount: Now mounted on an attractive iron base so it can stand freely on a flat surface.
