| Description: |
|
| Broken Star pattern quilt in red, white, and blue solids with a gingham plaid back. Found in Lancaster County, made circa 1915-1920’s. There are 8 stars between the central star and the halo and one more in each corner of the field, for a total of 13. That number is purposeful. There is a wide, triple border, the quilting is by hand, and the piecework is by machine, typical of the period. This is a very fine quilt, large, obviously stored with great care, unwashed, and in remarkable condition. |
