Dimensions (inches): 34.5" tall x 40.5" wide x 18" deep
Description:
PENNSYLVANIA DRY SINK WITH 2 SHALLOW DRAWERS OVER 2 DOORS AND WITH OUTSTANDING GREEN-PAINTED SURFACE, ca 1840-50:

Pennsylvania dry sink with wonderful form, apple green paint and tremendous surface. The well is dovetailed all the way around and spans the entire top with a slight overhang, under which there are two narrow drawers with mushroom knobs, over 2 doors with the earliest style iron slide latches that have tiny brass knobs. The base is a simple, beveled boot-jack with solid plank sides. The green paint may be original, or may slightly post-date the construction of the case. The ochre yellow beneath is either an earlier surface or an undercoat. Whatever the case may be, it contributes positively to the way in which the worn patina makes the presentation so pleasing and this is one of the most attractive Pennsylvania dry sinks that I have had the privilege to own in a long time, with legitimate, unaltered surface and great color. Made circa 1840-50, possibly of Lebanon County origin.

Condition: There is a repaired break on one of the back planks, which I stabilized. In the back there are age cracks, modest losses around the feet and two holes, which I patched. There is obvious surface wear from long-term use.
