Dimensions (inches): |
100" long, 3" diameter ball |
Description: |
|
Unusual and beautiful blown glass parade cane, made during the last quarter of the 19th century through 1910. Amazing work of art in equally remarkable condition. Likely produced as an "end-of-the-day" whimsy to show off remarkable skill and use up the remaining glass.
The longest example of a can of this kind that I have personally ever encountered was 4 feet in length. That example seemed even longer than its actual measurement in person. At 100" this is more than twice the size. The scale is simply beyond impressive.
Equally remarkable is the mere fact that such an object has survived intact into the 21st century. A masterpiece of early glass-blowing, in patriotic colors, and a resilient survivor.
Condition: Exceptional, with only minor surface scratches. |
