PAIR OF AMERICAN INDIAN BEADWORK GLOVES, CA 1890:
Native American beadwork, doeskin gloves with pink and red strawberries on green vines. Wonderful graphics, made ca 1890.
Mounting: The solid walnut molding dates to the period between 1860 and 1880. It retains an early, black, varnished surface and its original gilded liner with a copper-colored hue. The gloves have been hand-stitched to 100% cotton, black in color, that has been washed to reduce excess dye. An acid-free agent was added to the wash to further set the dye and the fabric was heat-treated for the same purpose. Spacers keep the objects away from the glass, which is U.V. protective.
Condition: Minor discoloration. |
