Hannah Davis (b. 1794), the most famous maker of wallpapered hat boxes, didn't sign all of her work. This is certainly her hand done in her typical style with the finest, wooden construction. Lined with 1827 New Hampshire newspaper, this stunning example has ink blue wallpaper with a tight, red and white floral pattern. This is a big box, dynamic and with wonderful colors.
Condition: Generally excellent for the form. Expected wear. |
