MAINE HANGING CUPBOARD WITH OXBLOOD RED PAINT AND EXCEPTIONAL SURFACE, CA 1830-50:br />
Both beautiful and useful, this wall-hanging Maine cupboard with two, blind, recess-paneled doors has an architectural pediment crown that sets it apart from other examples; but that's not its only fine point. The list also includes oxblood red paint with exceptional surface, a finely dovetailed case, original mushroom knobs and brass spinners, plus the finely molded and mortised elements in its birch wood and pine construction. The thin, hardwood shelves have shaped edges, as do the mortised portions of the center stile. These are desirable and unusual traits in rural-made cabinetry. The small scale of the cupboard, both in depth and overall dimension, makes it practical and versatile. Made circa 1830-1850; note the wide pine plank on the back.br />
