WHIMSICAL PATRIOTIC FLAG QUILT WITH 48 EIGHT-POINTED STARS
Patriotic quilt with 48, eight-pointed stars in a small-scale, cornflower blue canton and 22 stripes. Circa WWI (1917-1918). A fantastic folk example, entirely hand-sewn and made of cotton. The crude yet wonderful quilting indicates that it was probably made in the South, likely Virginia or North Carolina. Possibly of African-American origin.
