MASTERPIECE RACE HORSE GAME WHEEL, GILDED AND PAINTED:
One of the best game boards I have ever seen in the marketplace, this fantastic design would have likely been custom-made for a racing club or track. The gold leafed horse have their names underneath, such as "American Girl" and "Tom Jefferson". The high quality brass spinner is stamped Mason & Co., Chicago, a major producer of gaming equipment. The crazed surface is unparalleled and the wheel survives in an exceptional state of preservation. Made in the period between the last quarter of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century.
This board is one of two known examples from this maker. The horese are the same on both wheels but each has a different center.
