EAGLE FLAG POLE FINIAL WITH GREAT FORM AND SURFACE, 1910-1930 |
| |
|
| Dimensions (inches): |
5.5" tall x 11" wide x 5" deep |
| Description: |
|
Eagle flag pole topper, made of iron and nickel-plated. The form isn't unconventional by any means, as small eagles were a popular form for flag pole finials, but the pose seen here is uncommon, with wings outstretched and slightly above the head, which is cocked to one side. I rarely buy these because most are so generic. This one is not.
Mount: A custom made, black painted metal base was crafted for display.
Condition: There is some plating loss with exposed rust, but both this and the nicely worn patina contributes to the presentation, showing its age gracefully. |
