Description....:
WILLIAM McKINLEY & THEODORE ROOSEVELT PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN POSTER, LARGE SCALE WITH HUGE PORTRAIT IMAGES, ENTITLED "PROSPERITY", PRINTED IN CLEVELAND, 1900:

This graphic and colorful lithograph political poster was made for the campaign of William F. McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt in the year 1900. A huge jugate image of the two men, each within scrollwork medallions, flank an illustration of the Goddess of Plenty gripping the staff of an American national flag and holding a cornucopia spilling with roses. She stands before and above a view of working factories, active barges, a steaming locomotive, and bails of grain in a tended field.

Below the images are the names of the candidates and above is the heading "Prosperity". With tales of Roosevelt's famous charge with his Rough Riders at the Battle of San Juan Hill still fresh in the minds of American voters, and much economic prosperity under the McKinley-Hobart administration (in office at the time since 1897), the McKinley-Roosevelt ticket won easily.

The large format of the poster, printed by W. J. Morgan & Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, is a desirable trait, as are the quality of the portraits and strong colors.

It is interesting to note that both of these men would soon hold our nation's highest office. President William McKinley, while only six months into this, his second term, was assassinated by Leon Frank Czolgosz while attending the Pan-American Exposition (World's Fair) in Buffalo, NY. Roosevelt assumed the presidency for the remainder of the term then won the 1904 election to serve an additional four years.

Mounting: The poster has been mounted to canvas.

Condition: Minor to moderate creases or tears can be seen, but these are tight and were easily reinforced during mounting. There is minor professional restoration. The poster presents beautifully.
