Wool hooked rug with an impressively folky American eagle carrying a billowing streamer. Note the shapely wings, elongated beak that almost mirror images the shape of the wings, and the artful use of barber pole-like striping throughout the image. Ca 1876-1890. Likely of New England origin.
Mounting: Professionally mounted a a strainer frame wrapped in a background of 100% cotton twill, black in color. The work was accomplished by our own textile conservation department in-house. |
