  HAND-CARVED & PAINT-DECORATED SNAKE CANE, FOUND IN PENNSYLVANIA, CA 1870-1890
Dimensions (inches): 39" long, head approx. 1.75" in width, body about 1" in diameter, takes up about 2.5" in vertical space
Description:
Paint-decorated, Pennsylvania snake cane with wonderful form and surface. Made ca 1870-1890, the primary color is on the order of silver with gold and green overtones. The snakes markings are black stripes, accented with red, black markings around the eyes, black nostrils, and red and black dots upon its head. Entirely hand-carved, the head has an interesting, angular shape with plenty of folk qualities and style. A metal cap was made or re-purposed to protect the end of the tail.

Mount: There is a welded iron wall mount with half-circular cradles. Either side of the carving can be displayed. The mount is presently white, buy can be painted any color.

Condition: There are minor losses and wear, but there are no serious condition issues.
