| CIVIL WAR INFANTRY BATTLE FLAG, 34 GILT-PAINTED STARS,
DIMINUATIVE FORM, 1861-1863, HAND-SEWN SILK:
Civil war infantry battle flag with 34 gilt-painted stars on hand-sewn silk. Most infantry battle flags were 72? x 76? and this is a rare, small example with a beautiful medallion configuration. While the flag is missing some length, these flags were nearly square in proportion.
