ca. 1830 easel-painted oil on canvas trade sign, featuring an American eagle, perched on a rock, with a rippling red, white and blue streamer. The sign was painted for "Amos Whipple & Co". Whipple was an entrepreneur in various businesses and owned hotels from Boston to New Hampshire in the early 19th century. He purchased part of the Concord Coach Locomotive line between Potter Place Depot and New London, NH in order that he may transport guests to and from his hotels.

Mounting: The gilded molding is ca 1830-1850. A narrow black liner was added.
