This wonderful little checkerboard, probably of New England origin, is a particularly early and graphic one. Painted black, with a red grid, the perimeter is decorated with red dots, many of which disappear off the board’s edge. In spite of being opposite in color, I have dubbed it “the Ladybug Board,” because that is what I think of every time I view it. Constructed of two pine planks, with finger holes drilled at either end. Made circa 1820-1840. A great addition to any gameboard collection.
Condition: Excellent, with but minor wear. |
