MID-19TH CENTURY, PAINT-DECORATED CHAIRS, MUSTARD YELLOW WITH LINEAR STRIPED BACKGROUNDS:
Half-spindle back, paint-decorated, plank-seated chairs, made ca 1840-1860, with mustard yellow, linear striped backgrounds. The decoration is geometric and floral in tones of green, red, gold, and black. The crest rails are of angel wing form and there are 3 spindles below each lateral center rail.
Condition: Some repairs and reglueing of spindles and legs. Two of the crest rails were broken laterally and repaired. The surfaces were over-varnished with a glossy finish. |
