13 STAR RIBBON, PRINTED ON SILK, 1866-1910:
13 star American national flag ribbon, printed on silk, of the type used in military medals, political and fraternal items in the 1866-1910 period. They were also sometimes simply worn on a lapel with a stick pin.
Mounting: The red varnished, convex molding is ca 1890. The ribbon has been hand-stitched to 100% cotton rag mat. Spacers keep the textile away from the glazing, which is U.V. protective glass. |
