Bob enjoying the road, smiling as always, and wearing his Mansfield University baseball hat. He could always be found in the stands at MU baseball home games, as well as those of most other MU sporting
events. He also enjoyed football and basketball, but if he had a student who was a swimmer, a wrestler, or played field hockey, he made a great effort to attend as many of their home meets and games
as possible. |
Race Results for 2018 Charitable Giving: All proceeds from the Bridgman Memorial 5k Race go directly back into the local community. Because almost all prizes, materials, t-shirts, professional timing expenses, postage, printing, food, etc., are donated, annual expenditures were just $135. This is how almost every dollar in goes directly out.
The 18th annual event, in 2018, resulted in $3,900 in overall charitable giving. Donations were as follows:
- $700 to the Mansfield University Cross Country Team
- $700 to the Bob Bridgman Memorial Scholarship at Mansfield University
- $700 to the North Penn-Mansfield High School Cross Country Team
- $700 to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary
- $700 to Mansfield Ambulance
In addition, each graduating senior on the MHS Cross Country Team received a $100 scholarship. There were four recipients for a total of $400.
Because each registrant is asked to kindly bring a bag of dry dog or cat food, the race also results in the donation of a truckload of these to Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.
