Description:
EAGLE CALLIGRAPHY DRAWING BY GEORGE BEACH, ZANERIAN ART COLLEGE, COLUMBUS, OHIO, 1902:

This attractive and somewhat large calligraphy drawing entitled "The American Eagle" was "flourished by Geo. W. Beach, Zanerian Art College, Columbus, OH, 1902". This text is rendered as part of the work and is contained in the flowing streamer that is held in the beak of the gallant bird. The wings are very sculptural and the feathery tail is quite different than most, as well as interesting, but what I like about it best is the circular design that is created in the Beach's rendering of the eagles head and neck, as well as it's dark, piercing eye.

Mounting & Condition: I trimmed extra white area from around the work so that it could be married to this ca 1830-1850, wide and dramatic, mahogany, ogee profile frame, which has great early surface. The work is mounted to 100% cotton rag mat. Spacers keep it away from the glass, which is U.V. protective.
