EAGLE CALLIGRAPHY DRAWING, 1860-1880, WITH AN UNUSUAL POSE, FROM THE GARVESH COLLECTION:
The sidelong pose of this eagle calligraphy drawing makes it both beautiful and unusual. It was part of the Garvish collection, which was sold at Sotheby's in the 1970's and is remembered as a landmark sale. The drawing dates between 1860 and 1880, while the gilded frame is of the 1830-1860 period.
Condition: While there is some bleeding of the ink from minor water damage, the work is strong enough to overcome it and thus has a tremendous presentation. |
