Description....:
44 STARS IN JUSTIFIED ROWS, A LARGE PARADE FLAG WITH AN ELONGATED FORMAT, STRONG COLOR, AND GREAT WEAR, WYOMING STATEHOOD, 1890-1896:

44 star American national parade flag, printed on coarse, glazed cotton and with two features of particular interest. One of these is its elongated profile and attractive proportions. Another is its beautifully saturated shades of cornflower blue and sun fire orange. This orange coloration is often seen on early parade flags, but it isn't always as attractive as it is in this particular instance. Further, it is typically seen on flags that date between 1876 and prior and is less often present on later examples.

The stars are arranged in justified rows of 8-7-7-7-8. Note how the wear present on the flag, including both its losses, as well as the patination caused by oxidation, foxing and staining, actually add a great deal to its striking presentation.

The 44th state, Wyoming, joined the Union on July 10th, 1890. The 44 star flag was generally used from that year until 1896.

Mounting: The flag has not yet been mounted.

Condition: See above. There are minor to moderate loses, especially in the bottom, hoist end corner, accompanied by minor to moderate foxing and staining. Many collectors prefer early flags to show their age and history of use.
