This is a circa 1890 ? 1910 version of the Confederate battle flag, sewn entirely with a treadle machine of beautiful glazed cotton. Made for a veteran?s parade or reunion, it is very unusual to find an example that dates to this particular period, which is early for post-war Confederate flags.
Mounting: The flag has been hand-stitched to 100% cotton rag matt and placed in a black-painted, hand-gilded and distressed Italian molding. Spacers keep the textile away from the glass, which is U.V. protective
